When crafting same-day dental crowns, using the right materials is essential. This is why, at our offices, we have selected 3Mโข Lavaโข Esthetic Fluorescent Full-Contour Zirconia, the first zirconia with inherent, tooth-like fluorescence, for our dentalย crowns and bridges. Lava looks and feels like natural tooth enamel and has similar translucency and reflection, enabling crowns manufactured from the material to fit unnoticeably into your smile. Better still, the all-ceramic crowns crafted from Lava are:
- Shaped to fit perfectly into your smile
- Shaded to match adjacent teeth in color
- Reinforced for durability
Lava crowns have a nearly indestructible zirconium oxide understructure and can restore full strength and function to your smile. Whatโs more, they are easy to clean and care for and may even last a lifetime.
What is the Traditional Crown Procedure?
Traditional crowns are crafted from porcelain or metal and require multiple visits to complete. During the first visit, teeth are prepared and an impression is taken before a temporary crown is placed. This impression is used by an off-site dental lab to create the restorations. On the next visit, which may be several days later, the temporary crown is replaced with the crown from the lab. If it fits, the process is finished. If it doesnโt, there are additional appointments for adjustments and re-fittings. Depending on factors unique to the situation, the process may take weeks to complete.
Same-day crowns are faster than traditional crowns. They are also up to five times stronger than porcelain and significantly more attractive than metal alternatives. This does not, however, mean they are the right solution for every need. The best way to learn if a same-day crown is the best fit for you is through an evaluation with one ofย our experienced and caring dentists.
